Why not do this with unwanted home mail delivered by the Post Office?
Ever get unwanted mail from the post office? I get it all the time at my Apartment .. there is a large trash container to throw it in. People constantly complain about digging it out of the mail box and throwing it away. This equivalent to spam for e-mails is apparently legal because the Post Office says they must deliver it..even though my name is not occupant or valued customer or whatever. So my question to you is why not "x" out occupant and return to sender through the Post Office saying no one lives here by that name? I am doing it but I need help. Or is there another way to stop it?

When I first moved into my apartment I got tons of mail
for other people. I just wrote on it, "no such person at this address"
and gave it back to the mail carrier. I also filled a form out at the
post office that listed everyone’s name who lives here with me now.
Since then, I rarely get mail addressed to another person.

No. It’s not that big of a deal. Just throw it away. If the post office relys solely on people mailing letters they would shut down and you’d be going to each place to pay your bills or paying $25 to mail a simple letter. A lot of income from the post office comes from junk mail and mass mailings.
And although your name is not "Current Resident" you are the current resident. If a specific company is sending something you can write or call that company and ask your name / address be taken off the list. Other than that just throw it away and go on. Don’t let it ruin your day.

I am not sure of the exact information right now, as I heard it some time ago; but there is an address or a phone number you can call to stop receiving junk mail. Try "googling" it, that should get you some interesting stuff.
